Plussize Highlights of 2016

2016 was a remarkable year for Nigeria's plussize community. For the first time ever five top Plussize designers  collections graced the runway of Heineken lagos fashion and design week (LFDW2016). It was called the ATCL collective , which was put together by Latasha Ngwube the founder of Aboutthatcurvylife(ATCL) in collaboration  with plussize designers such as Makioba, Tosfa, Assian, mabello clothier, Aisha Abuubakar luxury designs.
Latasha Ngwube as the frontliner of the plussize community in Nigeria broke the barrier  in the fashion industry, now people are more accepting of this change and it has led to women being more confident in their size while wearing fashionable statment outfits. It was also a remarkable year in America as plussize model Ashley Graham was featured on the cover of sports illustrated swimsuit: 2016 issue.

Which was a first of its kind as she was a size sixteen and termed not the right size for such magazine which stired an uproar in America as the average size of an American woman is size 14 and models on such magazines sizes are from size 10 and less. She broke the glass ceiling  for the plus size women,  as more companies, brands and people are more accepting  of the term plussizemodel which bagged her the recognition for the glamour woman of the year award for pushing for the acceptance of plussize models. She also got her own plussize barbie.
